At Birding South West we offer half and full day tours in the South Western part of Western Australia. But we also organise birding tours further afield.
For both the half day and full day tours, guests are collected from their lodgings between 7:00 and 7:30am and travel by air conditioned 4WD vehicle to various local nature reserves. Cost includes use of binoculars, telescope and field guides.
Terms are strictly cash only (including directly by Electronic Funds Transfer). Unfortunately, I am currently unable to accept credit cards.

Half Day Tour
From: Manjimup, Pemberton or Bridgetown
Cost: $200 for one person, then $70 each for additional guests up to a maximum of four and includes morning tea.
This morning tour is designed to see a range of local endemic species including (but not guaranteed or limited to!) Long-billed (Baudin's) Black Cockatoo, Red-capped Parrot, Western Rosella, Red-winged Fairywren, Red-eared Firetail and White-breasted Robin.
Full Day Tour
From: Manjimup, Pemberton or Bridgetown
Cost: $400 for one person, then $100 each for additional guests up to a maximum of four and includes morning tea.
This is an extension of the morning tour but travels further afield to search for additional species such as Western Corella, Western Thornbill and Western Spinebill.
PERTH AND SURROUNDS
Full Day Tour (available weekends only)
From: Free Perth pick-up and return.
Cost: $400 for one person, then $100 each for additional guests up to a maximum of four. Use of telescope and field guides included.
This full day tour is designed to see a range of habitats in the Perth area, including urban wetlands, jarrah forest and woodlands, the coast and the Swan River. We expect to see 80-110 species, including 8-10 endemics, depending on the season and the weather.
SOUTH WEST ENDEMICS
3 or 4 Day Tour
From: Manjimup, Bridgetown or Pemberton. Pick up from other towns may be available on request or I can meet you at Cheynes Beach.
Guide cost: $400 for one person, then $100 each for additional guests up to a maximum of four. Use of telescope and field guides included.
Accommodation cost: Chalet-style accommodation at Cheynes Beach Caravan Park and all meals (including for the guide) are extra. Typically, 2-bedroom chalets are around $180 per night and dinners $25 per person.
This extended tour aims to find all 15 of the South West endemics and the 5 near endemics, but particularly focuses on the 3 notorious "skulkers" (Noisy Scrub-bird, Western Bristlebird and Black-throated (Western) Whipbird). For the 4 day Blitz, an extra day is spent in the "mallee" country looking for such species as Malleefowl, Shy Heathwren, Southern Scrub-Robin and Purple-gaped Honeyeater.
From March to October there's a good chance of seeing both Humpback and Southern Right Whales.
DALWALLINU-WONDINONG OUTBACK TOUR
5 Day / 4 Night Tour (Perth-Perth)
This new tour explores the more arid pastoral and mining area NE of Perth, taking advantage of the stunning Murchison scenery and its magnificent wildflowers. We stay 3 nights in comfortable "donga"- style accommodation (double/twin/single) and enjoy excellent outback hospitality at Wondinong Station Stay. Enroute we stop a night at Dalwalliinu in the Western Australian wheatbelt and explore the "mallee" dominated landscapes.
Avian highlights include Western Quail-thrush, White-browed Treecreeper, Mulga and Bourke's Parrots, Budgerigar, Western Bowerbird and both Pied and Black Honeyeaters to name but a few.
Cost including all accommodation, meals and travel: $1960 per person twin share for two people), $1640 pp for 3 people (including single supplement for one) or $1450 pp for 4 people (based on twin share).
Accommodation: Double, twin or single rooms - Motel in Dalwallinu and Donga style at Wondinong Station Stay.
Note that this tour will be available from May to August, the cooler months of the year.
CARNARVON-SHARK BAY 10 day tour
This exciting new tour will target points north of Perth as far as Carnarvon and the World Heritage listed Shark Bay as well as the western Goldfields area around Mt Magnet. Available June-August.
The Gascoyne region around Carnarvon represents the southern extent of some northern species such as Black-tailed Treecreeper, Red-browed Pardalote, Blue-winged Kookaburra, Mangrove Fantail and White-breasted Whistler as well as the WA endemic Dusky Gerygone. The area around Shark Bay is host to a number of sought after species such as Western Grasswren, Chiming Wedgebill, Rufous Fieldwren and White-breasted Woodswallow. The western Goldfields region is home to a number of key species including Western Quail-thrush, Budgerigar, White-browed Treecreeper, Slaty-backed Thornbill, Orange Chat and chance of Inland Dotterel and Banded Whiteface.
Accommodation will be in motels and travel by comfortable 4WD. Available for 1-4 people. Price on application.
